Companies House Changes

Right, this is one of those serious updates, and it affects every single one of you who owns a Limited Company. Please don’t scroll past this – there’s action you’ll need to take.

From 18 November 2025, Companies House is bringing in a new identity verification process for:
    •    Company Directors
    •    Persons with Significant Control (PSCs)

This is all part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 – a bit of a mouthful, but basically it’s designed to stop dodgy activity and make the register more transparent.

What does it mean for you?
    •    New directors/PSCs (appointed after 18 Nov 2025) → must verify their identity straight away.
    •    Existing directors/PSCs → you’ve got a 12-month window to get yourself verified before your next Confirmation Statement is due.

Ignore it, and you could face penalties or even restrictions – not worth the hassle!

How do you do it?
    •    Easiest option: Use your biometric passport via a gov.uk One Login.
    •    No biometric passport? No problem – you can go old school and pop into the Post Office to verify in person.

Don’t fancy the faff?

We can handle it for you as we’re an authorised Corporate Service Provider with Companies House. We’ll take care of the whole thing for £75 + VAT per person.

That said – if you’ve got a biometric passport, it’s really not too bad to do yourself and you’ll save a few quid. But if you’d rather we take the stress off your plate, we’re here.
